Summer Vacation

It seems that most people of my company are taking summer vacation although, unfortunately, I won't be able to take it because of the project I am working on. Until yesterday, I saw many people working in the office. However, today, I don't see many empty workspaces, finding that the company sent the e-mail told employees to take summer vacation in this week.

I don't know whether it's common in consulting firms or not, my company and the company I previously worked for don't have scheduled summer vacation. So we can take summer vacation whenever we want instead of taking it in unpreferable timing when most Japanese take the vacation. I like it because I can avoid congestions that is the last thing I would like to run accross.

So I am feeling that my company is becoming "popular" and "typical" company, thinking that many people are encouraged to take the vaction on scheduled timing.

But, taking summer vacation on unscheduled timing sometimes has a risk that eventually we go without any vacation. So we should think about freedom and responsibility.

So the change is so insightful that it is likely that the company is not looking to our self decipline.

Anyway, I will take summer vacation later for sure.
